It's a battle between Wisky and Miami for Brissett from what I hear. We'll know Friday which one he chooses.
I know Stripes/UTVols2/Lung are happy pulling Byron Moore. Miami could have used him pretty badly to give them a solid body as a top CB. He'll probably play S and defend the slot on 3rd downs for UT.
Miami's class ranking by most services will end up well out of the top 25, probably out of the top 30 unless some crazy stuff happens tomorrow. I like this class thus far though if everyone sticks. Lots of highly regarded 3* kids (aka, kids that had offer lists a mile long but just weren't ranked highly in most services)...and most of them verbaled after Shannon was gone and Golden stepped in. Take Kevin Grooms for instance--VT fans on most boards were livid that Golden swooped in on him. They wanted him to come in and take one of the RB slots that is being vacated by Williams/Evans departures to the NFL. They valued him pretty highly, and he will probably return kicks for Miami right off the bat and could possibly help us fill a hole at either CB or WR even though his natural spot is RB.
Golden has been a mad man on the trail thus far, and Brennan Carroll is going to pay major dividends for Miami in recruiting going forward. I can't wait to see what Golden can do with a full year to recruit the 2012 kids, especially if he and his staff coaches on the field as well as they've recruited so far, and have a solid winning season to use as ammunition.
Keep in mind too that Miami is one of the schools that Tom Savage is looking at now that he's been cleared to transfer from Rutgers, and also that if Duron Carter can get qualified out of Juco, he has named Miami as the place he wants to be. Both of those would be big pickups. We likely won't know about either until later this month, maybe even until early March.
